Watts Next Electrical is a Grade A Level 2 electrician in Sydney. A Level 2 electrician is accredited by the electricity network to work on the connection between the street and your property: the power pole, service line, mains and meter. A standard electrician can't legally do this work.

We're accredited with both Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy, and across every Level 2 category. So whether you've received a defect notice, need to move a pole for your renovation or want 3 phase power for an EV charger, one team does the job and handles the network paperwork. We work across the Sutherland Shire, St George, the Eastern Suburbs and surrounding Sydney.

What is a Level 2 electrician?

In NSW, the power supply to your property is split into two parts. Everything from your switchboard inwards is your electrical installation, and any licensed electrician can work on it. Everything between the street network and your switchboard (the pole, the service line, the point of attachment, the mains and the meter) connects to the grid. Only an Accredited Service Provider can work on that part.

The NSW Accredited Service Provider (ASP) scheme has three levels. Level 1 builds network infrastructure such as street mains and substations. Level 3 designs network connections. Level 2 is the level that connects and disconnects homes and businesses, and installs and repairs service lines and metering. It's the one most properties need.

When do you need a Level 2 electrician?

  • You've received a defect notice from Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy about your pole, service line or point of attachment.

  • Storm or tree damage has hit the line to your property.

  • You're renovating or rebuilding, and the pole, POA or switchboard needs to move.

  • You're adding a granny flat that needs its own meter or more supply.

  • You're installing solar, a battery, an EV charger or ducted air conditioning, and your installer says you need a meter, mains or 3 phase upgrade first.

  • You want the pole or meter box out of sight to improve your street appeal.

Why Grade A and dual-network accreditation matter

Most Level 2 electricians are accredited for some categories on one network. Grade A with both networks means we can say yes to more jobs, and do all of each one.

Level 2 ASP

What it means

Authorised by the network to connect and disconnect properties and work on the line between the street and your home.

What it means for you

Your pole, mains, meter or POA can be fixed without waiting on a second company.

Grade A

What it means

Accredited in every Level 2 category: overhead and underground service connections, metering and private poles.

What it means for you

There's no Level 2 job we have to hand off to someone else.

Ausgrid + Endeavour Energy

What it means

Accredited with both network operators in our area.

What it means for you

We can take your job whichever network supplies your property.

Of the roughly 3,600 electricians in Sydney, only around 40% can legally do Level 2 work, and only about half of those hold Grade A accreditation.

How much does a Level 2 electrician cost?

Every Level 2 job is different, so we quote after seeing the site. The main things that affect the price are:

  • The type of work: a meter change costs far less than a new pole or undergrounding.
  • Distance and access: the length of the service line and how easy the site is to reach.
  • Network requirements: whether Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy needs an application or an outage.
  • Extra work: switchboard upgrades, new circuits or 3 phase conversion done in the same job.
  • Materials: pole type, cable size and meter equipment.

Quotes are free and itemised, so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
